Illustration Friday - Buzz

As in Caffeine BUZZ - my day doesn't start until i have a cup (or 2) of this eye opening, brain cell boosting, heart pumping brew that has me BUZZing around in no time =)
oil pastels on bristol vellum, 5x7*
*this new size & format is the start of a series of small pieces for 2007 for all the different mediums i like to work with, i'm hoping this *limitation* will bring more structure to my work and ideally result in a collection suitable for greeting cards and/or to use as prototypes for larger pieces

This is awesome...love the color combination.
very nice!
I LOVE THIS!
Caffeine buzzes ARE the best!
I especially like how you did the steam and how it branches out instead of just single lines.
Great job!!
very nice work on your site. I love the recent piece on BUZZ. I too need that kick in the morning before getting anything done. Thank you for stopping by. The comment you left was really nice. Hope to see you back real soon. I might even have the Paper Wasp Queen done. Thanks again.

I love the curly tendrils of caffeine laced aroma...
This is really lovely. Wonderfully painted and I really love the contrast of the black and white cloth against the rest of the painting. Great illustration! :)
I like the look of this.
VELLUM!!! I just had a student working in oil pastels and didn't like the fact the paper was 'peeling'...I bet vellum would take care of that...nice fold in the fabric for visual interest...and I hadn't tried the colorless blender...is the 'lead' a clear medium or is it more like a blending stick that you never use up?
thanks everyone for the great feedback - really appreciate your time and comments.
brian - yes the vellum finish on this paper is awesome, it's heavy weight Strathmore 2-ply Bristol, no peeling at all and i really work it with all the blending i do =)
re: the prisma blender - looks opaque but actually it's clear & sharpens like a reg. pencil
nice; i like the depth of the fold in the fabric
I really love the color combination of this piece. Very cool and the swirls. . .are so awesome.
